There is no account, no profile and no database. We don't know who you are and we've made it so we can't find out.
Location
Daylight Left and Laundry Outside need to know roughly where you are. If you allow it, your browser gives us your coordinates; otherwise you can type a city. We round the coordinates and store them in your browser's local storage so you don't have to answer again. They are never stored on a server.
What leaves your device
Daylight is calculated entirely in your browser — nothing leaves. For Laundry, your rounded coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to get a forecast. For city search, the text you type is sent to Open-Meteo's geocoding service.
Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused service, to count visits and see which questions people find useful. It is cookieless and does not follow you across sites. Plausible processes high-level, aggregated information: the page visited, the referring site, and coarse signals such as country, device type and browser, derived without storing your IP address. We also record a few simple events — for example "opened Laundry", "switched to another utility", "shared an answer", or whether a location was granted, denied or typed. These events never include your coordinates, your city, your search text, weather data, or any identifier for you. Analytics only runs on tellmesimply.com; development and preview versions of the site send nothing. If your browser or an extension blocks analytics, everything here keeps working.
Cookies
None. Plausible sets no cookies and we set none either, so there is nothing to consent to and no banner to dismiss. Your chosen location and preferences live in your browser's local storage, which you can clear at any time from your browser, or by tapping "Change location".
Honesty
If something is calculated we say calculated. If it's estimated we say estimated. If the data is old we say how old. If we can't get data, we don't invent an answer.
